Awareness creates choice, choice creates self trust, and that changes how we live. Photography is simply the practice
Every photo begins with a decision...and they are rarely random..
The world of photography is full of mysterious and captivating images that leave us scratching our heads. But fear not, for today we are going to dive into the fascinating concept of gestalt and how it relates to photography. So, what exactly is gestalt? In simple terms, it is the idea that we perceive things as a whole, rather than individual parts. Gestalt, a German word meaning "shape" or "form," is a theory that suggests we perceive things as a whole rather than just the sum of their parts. It's like looking at a puzzle and seeing the big picture, rather than focusing on each individual piece.
We may not recognise it, we may realise we are not feeling a connection with the landscape images as we edit them. Maybe then a judgement against ourselves comes up, telling ourselves that we are stupid, inadequate, not as good as another photographers images. Then the question should be, who are you taking photographs for?
