Are labels a barrier to imagining?

A cup

Just a cup

It's just...a cup.

Take a photo of it.

Remove the label in your mind of it being "just a cup" ... and what do you see?

Describe it..in your images..

The texture, the colour, the reflections, the light on it, the curves, the shapes, the design.

The story of the cup. Where has it been. Who did it belong to before you had it? Who made it? Was it made in a big factory? If it had a name what would it be? What would its character be ?

Do your images change? How do they differ from your initial image of the cup?

Practice removing your minds labels next time you pick up the camera..

They just create a barrier to your imagination.

Everyday object we just see and don’t question, like:

Trees
Flowers
Petals
House
Sink
Towel
Pillow
Soap
Shoes
Tap
Window
Dog
Horse
Boat
Shell
Rock

Practice for a couple of weeks and see where it leads you.
